Sustainable Serenity
Remaining Productive While Centering Wellness

Frustrated by life’s constant changes? Guided by Octavia Butler’s insight that change is both inevitable and transformative, this workshop reveals how sustainable serenity and productivity emerge through centering your wellness and building reliable systems of support and accountability amid life’s changes.

Created for both academic communities and general audiences, Sustainable Serenity offers a practical pathway to sustainable serenity, resilience amid change, and enhanced productivity.

“One compelling message I received from the Exhale Workshop was to connect with ancestral knowledge. Angelique shared key examples and encouraged us to seek out knowledge unique to our backgrounds. I plan to explore the books she shared and reflect on the cultural knowledge I can draw from as I refine my goals and habits for wellness. I also enjoyed learning, in an accessible way with examples, how to center our daily habits and make gradual changes to support our wellness goals.

Create and Implement a Wellness Sustainability Plan

Sustain the Work. Sustain Yourself.

Created by Angelique M. Davis, the Wellness Sustainability Plan is a research-informed framework designed to help participants translate insight into intentional action.

Grounded in study and practice, this guided process begins with centered personal reflection—inviting participants to examine their strengths, challenges, and patterns of wellbeing with clarity and care.

These insights are then thoughtfully gathered, organized, and reflected upon to reveal meaningful themes and opportunities for growth. From there, participants develop a practical, personalized plan designed to support sustainable wellness in real-world contexts.

The result is not just awareness, but direction: a clear, actionable pathway that participants can begin implementing immediately. Insight becomes structure. Reflection becomes momentum.

Wellness becomes sustainable.

Formats Offered

Exhale Writing Retreats and Workshops are offered in multiple formats to support diverse learning preferences and writing objectives.

Participants may select a 90-minute webinar, designed to provide concentrated instruction and renewed focus, and accessible to those seeking a flexible option that accommodates scheduling, location, or resource constraints. A half-day seminar offers an efficient opportunity to realign writing practices with professional and scholarly goals. For those seeking deeper engagement, the full-day seminar provides a highly structured, personalized experience, intentionally designed to integrate motivation, sustained attention, and reflective calm into a comprehensive program.

Frequently Asked Questions

The price varies based on format (in-person or virtual), duration, and any required travel. Please complete the linked Exhale: Workshop Interest Form so the facilitators can design a tailored workshop for your needs and provide a precise quote.

Dr. Rose Ernst and Professor Angelique M. Davis co-facilitate two workshop offerings: Sparking Academic Joy and Racial Gaslighting. The curricula for both workshops were jointly developed and are typically delivered together. Because Dr. Ernst is based in the UK and works remotely, co-facilitated workshops are offered in virtual or hybrid formats, with Professor Davis on site and Dr. Ernst joining online. These hybrid sessions are well established and run smoothly. When an entirely in-person format is required—such as when paired with an Exhale Writing Retreat or upon client request—the workshop may be delivered by Davis as a solo facilitator.

These workshops are customized to your organization’s needs. They are not passive lectures; every session includes interactive elements. In general, the longer the workshop, the more room there is for interaction and hands-on practice.
